V Radha, Union Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation, addressing the Collectors’ conclave in Visakhapatnam on Friday Visakhapatnam: To achieve complete Swachh Bharat by October 2, 2019, the District Collectors have decided to gear up the works right from the village-level.
A two-day Collectors’ conclave was started in the city chaired by Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj K Jawahar Reddy. Collectors of various districts from 14 States are participating in the conclave.
Addressing the Collectors, Union Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation V Radha said, on the occasion of 150th Jayanthi celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi to be celebrated on October 2, 2019, all the District Collectors should ensure cent per cent Swachh Bharat aim. Achieving the cent per cent results in the mission was the great tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, she added.
The Union government targeted to construct 14 million toilets and 100 per cent solid waste management were the priority issues in the Swachh Bharat mission, she said and appealed to the collectors to discuss the issues related to the mission in the conclave.
On the occasion, Jawahar Reddy said that under the mission, the politicians were also coming forward and sharing the responsibilities. He suggested to involve the Self-Help Group members and local leaders in the programme to achieve cent per cent results.
