With the aim to tap students’ creativity and potentials and provide a platform to express their short story writing skills in Hindi, the Hindi department of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim (GCASCS) organised ‘Hindi Short Story Writing Competition’, five workshops on ‘Handwriting Skills’ as a part of Hindi Day activity and also screened documentary films and a movie. About 48 students from arts and science streams participated in the competition. Sarita Chaudhari, Priyanka Chawhan and Shashikala Kale won first, second and third place, respectively. Five consolation prizes were awarded to Shilpa Tate, Chandrabhaga Patil, Sheetal Doifode, Sushma Gawade and Prajal Mayekar.
The department organised five workshops on ‘Handwriting Skills’ to help improve students’ handwriting in Devanagari Script. About 300 students from arts and science streams including ex-students participated in the same. Resource person fot the workshop was assistant librarian, Goa Institute of Management, Sanquelim, Raghoba Pednekar.
Documentary films on noted Hindi writers Baba Nagarjun and Kedarnath Singh along with a movie ‘Hindi Medium’ were screened for the students to supplement their learning process and encourage them to acquire the skill and culture of critical appreciation of the documentaries and films.
