The Mumbai police played a crucial role in negotiating with the Kisan Long March leadership to change their plan from Somaiya Ground in Sion to Azad Maidan. According to sources, in a bid to avoid this, the Mumbai police used its intelligence and negotiating skills to act swiftly. As soon as the rally reached Mumbai, senior police officers contacted the leadership to discuss their routes and schedule. Once the organisers agreed, the government arranged 50 buses for the farmers to travel to Azad Maidan however the farmers denied the facility. Though the protesting farmers, looked tired and stressed from their faces while they were marching in the midnight, the tiredness did not stop their feet from heading towards their destination, Azad Maidan in South Mumbai.
