Sony TV’s Pehredaar Piya Ki went off air after the huge outcry against the concept of showing a eight-year-old wedded to an 18-year old. People called the show regressive after TV actor Karan Wahi slammed it on his Facebook page. There were online petitions to take off as well as end the show. Finally, BCCC stepped in but the new timing suggested by them was not suitable to the makers. So, they shut shop and decided to come up with a new version of Pehredaar Piya Ki with a new title, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya. They have stayed true to many members of the original cast including lead actress Tejasswi Prakash who is the main protagonist. Here is our quick review of the first episode…

What’s it about?
The tale has taken a leap of 12 years but we don’t see the marriage of Diya and Ratan. Instead, we see a promise made by Diya (Tejasswi) to be the guard of Ratan to his father, Maan Singh. She also manages the property half of which has been converted into a luxury hotel for tourists. Along with Choti Thakurain, Ratansa has many enemies who are waiting for him to come and do the Diwali pooja post which he will be murdered. However, Diya lies that he is coming and places his effigy. She discovers that an assault was already planned and warns everyone to behave.

What’s hot
Tejasswi is in full form as the fierce Diya who knows only one thing that is her mission to save Ratan. She is more hardened and clever now. The actress was on a fitness trip to Jordan and looks toned. The look has a certain amount of severity, which was not there in the earlier version. We are yet to see Rohit Suchanti as Prince Ratan. The scale of the show is as opulent as the first one. We see wonderful sweeping vistas of palaces and gardens. The narrative is engaging and it is quite crisp. There is a big suspense and thriller element on the show, which is good.

What’s not
There is very little to dislike about the first episode. The makers have tried to erase the low points of Pehredaar Piya Ki. Let us see how it pans out in the future..
