American Malayali loses cash, mobiles, camera, perfume, worth lakhs of rupees, at Kochi airport
Nedumabassery: A Malayali couple who arrived from America lost four of their baggage from the airport. They are not sure whether the baggage was lost from Kochi or Doha.
Mundakkayam native Chacko Kurian and his wife Elikkutty, who are working as nurses in America, lost their bags. The things lost were worth lakhs of rupees, including expensive mobile phones, camera, 13 bottles of costly perfumes, 5 watches, lights, shirts, diabetes testing kit and 4 ladies bags. These items were kept inside a small bag inside the baggage.
The couple arrived in Kochi on Wednesday at 2.20 am by Qatar Airways flight. They are doubtful about the delay that occurred during baggage clearance. They realized that the belongings were lost, only after checking the bags when they reached their flat. All the expensive items, except for a few clothing, were lost. The couple reported the incident at the airport by 8 am the same day. They also complained that the airport authority asked them why they did not check the baggage from the airport.
The couple resides in America for the past 44 years. They visit their homeland every year to spend a few days here. The baggage was safely packed with plastic, as the airport officials directed them not to lock the bags. They lodged a complaint with Nedumbassery police and terminal manager also. The authorities informed that investigation will be strengthened.
