Some Samsung Galaxy S8 Cameras Aren’t Focusing Properly
According to users posting on the Samsung Community forums, “When taking photos, the camera tries to focus and refocus continuously, and never actually focuses. This is leading to very blurry photos. It occurs when using the camera itself, and also when using it apps such as Snapchat. Both for photo and video. Pictures are also blurry in manual mode and there isn’t any other way to turn auto focus off.”
It is unclear if this is specifically related to the Galaxy S8, but a Samsung rep has responded in the forums with some steps that should fix it. For the most part it is rather general advice, such as making sure apps are up to date, making sure their OS is up to date, and one solution even involves tapping the back of the phone and giving it a small shake, presumably to dislodge any dust or particles that might be causing the camera to not focus properly.
So if you are experiencing these problems, you could try the steps Samsung outlined and if it still doesn’t work, Samsung has suggested sending it in for a repair.
