Sithole: Dikwena want to win so badly

Cape Town - Platinum Stars defender Gift Sithole believes his team needs to avoid unnecessary mistakes and start winning games to move away from the relegation zone.

Dikwena are second from bottom on nine points as they prepare to take on Polokwane City at the Pietersburg Stadium on Wednesday.

With Roger de Sa's side having an opportunity to move clear of trouble against Rise and Shine, Sithole takes the view that cutting out errors is key.

"We want to win so badly," he told the press. "There are nine points to play for. We have to get them and move. Nine points will take us way up on the log.

"When we come back in January, we have to be in a better position. I believe in my team and I have confidence that we will move from where we are.

"It's not good that we have had so many draws. The last game, we managed to score more than one goal but it was disappointing because we conceded and the match ended with a draw.

"Had we won that game, we wouldn't be having the pressure that we have now. Whatever happens at training is what happens in matches.

"The coach tells us that something is going to happen and it happens the same way in a match but we fail to deal with it. Sometimes we have (a) lapse of concentration."

Stars have thrown away winning positions on four separate occasions in 2017/18, and Sithole is determined to end that run.

"We have to be smart sometimes. You can work hard but if you are not smart it's a problem. The way we play, we don't deserve to be where we are," the 35-year-old added.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
