After Taj Mahal, BJP leader Vinay Katiyar claims Delhi's Jama Masjid was Jamuna Devi temple

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vinay Katiyar who had earlier said that the white marble mausoleum Taj Mahal was a Shiv Temple has now claimed that the famous Jama Masjid in New Delhi was originally Jamuna Devi temple. His comments come right at the time when the political storm over the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute in Ayodhya is at its peak. As Gujarat assembly polls inch closer, several BJP leaders have hit out at the Congress for not making their stand clear on the Ayodhya issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also criticised the opposition for trying to defer the hearing in the case to 2019.
“I want to thank the Sunni Wakf Board for saying that Kapil Sibal’s request for deferral of Ayodhya land dispute case till 2019 election is wrong. I want to thank them because they have come forward for the unity of the nation… Congress politicians should stop creating obstacles” in finding a solution to the issue, said PM Modi in his public addressals. BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao accused Rahul Gandhi of being a ‘Babar bhakt’ (Babar devotee) and a ‘kin of Khilji’. He blamed the Congress for taking sides of Islamic invaders and slammed the party for obstructing in the Ayodhya verdict.
As per ANI, Vinay Katiyar said, “There were about 6000 places that were broken down by the Mughal emperors. Delhi’s Jama Masjid was originally Jamuna Devi temple, similarly, Taj Mahal was Tejo Mahalaya.” According to an Aaj Tak report the BJP leader also claimed that many other Hindu temples had been vandalised by the Mughals in Varanasi and Mathura too. The BJP leader claims that Taj Majhal, one of the seven wonders in the world was constructed after destroying a Shiv Temple which was present at the spot. The controversial comment received mix responses from the public.
