"The Melting Pot Asian Gems" (published by Balboa Press AU)” shares recipes from countries that have played an important part in author Vasanthi Duraiappah’s life, with specialty dishes highlighting food from four different countries she has lived in.
“The Melting Pot Asian Gems” covers breakfast, main dishes, sweets and savories that are popular from Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India. It also has five popular Australian dishes. The book is intended to be an easy-to-follow cookbook that also raises money for leukemia research and health services.
“The inspiration for this book has come from the countries that played an important role in my life,” Duraiappah explains. “Due to their diverse styles and flavours, the foods from these four countries have heavily impacted the way I cook. In ‘The Melting Pot – Asian Gems,’ I try and use recipes from all these nations to express the influence of these various cultures on my journey through life. “
