Saif Ali Khan Wanted To Change Taimur's Name And Kareena Had The Most Surprising Reaction
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has revealed that her husband Saif Ali Khan wanted to change their son Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi’s name even before his birth on December 20, 2016.
Taimur, who has become one of netizen’s most adored child with his looks and cute smile, had created a stir almost as soon as he was born.
His parents had revealed their son’s name soon after his birth which had sent India into a frenzy with thousands of people slamming Saifeena for their name selection and suggesting that they had named their son after a Mongol conqueror who killed thousands of Indians.
They were trolled for weeks with many even crossing the line and cursing the newborn for his name.
Talking about the controversy after nearly a year and a half, mother Kareena at India Today Conclave 2018 said that Saif contemplated changing the name Taimur to Faiz as it was poetic and romantic.
“There was (a) lot of trolling, but there was an immense amount of support as well. Not that the trolls or anything matters. Because the night before (the delivery) when we went to the hospital, Saif asked me, if it’s a boy, do I want to change the name from Taimur? He even told me to change the name to ‘Faiz’, as it is more poetic and romantic.”
But Kareena, who was already set on naming him Taimur, was surprised by his suggestion and immediately said NO to the idea.
“I was like no, ‘If it is a boy, my son is going to be a fighter, he will be called ‘Taimur’. Taimur means iron, and I will produce (an) ironman. I am proud to have named him Taimur.”
The Conclave was also attended by Kareena’s elder sister and Taimur’s maasi Karishma who also voiced her support for Bebo’s decision and revealed that the whole controversy had left Saif tense.
“Saif was so tense seeing Bebo in that state. They (remained) were strong and stuck to their decision to name him ‘Taimur’. Today, he is the love of the country and of the world.”
While the controversy around name remained for weeks, Taimur soon started to win India’s heart with is cuteness and attitude.
He has already become paparazzi’s favourite with hundreds of photographer following him nearly round the clock and netizens going crazy on his every move.
While glad that people have moved on from Taimur’s name controversy Kareena is now concerned that his every move is monitored by the media.
“I do not like the fact that every day Taimur’s moves are monitored, pictures are out, what he is doing, where he is going, what he is wearing, discussing his hairstyle. He is just a 14-month-old. I don’t know how to stop it. You are just following him around…I think he is getting used to it because off late if I compare his pictures, he has started posing.”
What are your thoughts on Taimur being called Faiz? Do you think it would have made any difference in his life or are you glad that they stuck by their decision to name him Taimur?
