Weather Update: Another tropical depression forms in the eastern Atlantic
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Another tropical depression has formed in the eastern Atlantic and is expected to become a tropical storm by tonight.
According to the Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica, the centre of Tropical Depression Fifteen was located about 760 km southwest of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands at 4:00 am Tuesday.
The depression was moving toward the west-northwest near 19 km/h, but a turn to the northwest
is expected tonight and that general motion should continue on Wednesday and Thursday.
Met service said maximum sustained winds were near 55 km/h with higher gusts and some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Tropical Depression Fifteen is not a threat to Jamaica.
Meanwhile, the Met Service said partly cloudy conditions are expected across the island this morning, while isolated showers and thunderstorms should affect sections of mainly northwestern parishes this afternoon.
