Uma Bharti not to contest in 2019 LS Polls
New Delhi: Union minister Uma Bharti on Tuesday announced that she will not contest the next Lok Sabha general elections in 2019.
She further said that, she will concentrate on the issues of Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya and cleanliness of the River Ganga.
"When I had a talk with Amit ji (BJP President Amit Shah) in 2016, then also he said I should not resign. So, party will take the decision on this. But I will only work for Ganga ji & Ram for 1.5 years," Bharti said.
After Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti is the second minister in Narendra Modi government to decline to contest in 2019 elections.
