Two Army soldiers including a major martyred in IED blast near LoC in J&K's Rajouri
Jammu/Srinagar: Two Army soldiers including a major were martyred on Friday in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The IED was planted by the terrorists active in the region
Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said: “Today one officer and another soldier were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Lam area of Nowshera sector”.
Sources said that the IED was planted by the terrorists active in the region.
Earlier reports said that two soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were injured on Friday in an explosion near the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
Meanwhile, terrorists hurled a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker in Srinagar’s city centre Lal Chowk on Friday evening but fortunately no one was injured.
A CRPF officer said: “The grenade exploded without causing any damage.”
Immediately after the explosion, police and CRPF officials rushed to the spot and launched an intensive search operation. “The CCTV footage is also been scanned by the security forces to track the culprits,” said an official.
