Mangaluru: Radio is a medium of heart: Swami Ekagamyananda
Mangaluru, Mar 12: “Radio is a medium not just of the ear, but of the heart. It is a medium that can help people build bridges and society,” said Swami Ekagamyananda of Ramakrishna Mission.
He was speaking after inaugurating the decennial celebrations of Community Radio Sarang at St Aloysius College on Tuesday, March 12.
Swami Ekagamyananda said that at a time when the world was full of digital media, radio still had its place. “Though commercial radios have brought in unhealthy competition, community radios like Sarnag have helped in brining quality content to satisfy listeners who depend only on radio,” he added.
As part of the decennial year celebrations, giant umbrellas were distributed to six street vendors, including M M Bilagi, popularly known as samosajja.
Former MLA J R Lobo, theatre personality Devdas Kapikad, rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, principal Dr Praveen Martis and director of Radio Sarang Dr Melwyn Pinto were present.
