PM Modi wants two Indias - one for rich and one for poor: Rahul Gandhi
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that PM wants to create two Indias — one for rich and one for poor. “Modi wants to have two Indias. One for the 15-20 friends of his and the other for the rest of the people,” Gandhi said while addressing a political rally in Kerala.
The Congress President has been attacking the government for allegedly helping certain industrialists while not doing enough for the poor and farmers. He said that the Congress if voted to power would introduce a minimum income guarantee programme to ensure a minimum income for the poor in the country.
He also hit out at the Prime Minister on Rafale deal. Hinting out at a probe in the deal, the Congress chief said: “The Congress party is not going to allow anybody to get away from Justice. It doesn’t matter even if he is the prime minister of India. Nobody is going to be allowed to steal from the Air Force.”
Rahul Gandhi has been alleging corruption in the fighter jet deal with France. He has been saying that the prime minister finalised the deal at the prices much higher than what the previous government had negotiated. Some lawyer activists had also approached the Supreme Court seeking court-monitored CBI probe. However, the apex court had turned down the plea saying no investigation was required.
Taking pot shots at PM Modi, the Congress president said: “Prime Minister’s job is not to tell the nation his Mann ki Baat but to listen to the mann ki baat of the people.” He then said that the Congress wants to listen to what the people have to say. “Congress doesn’t want to impose anything on India. We don’t want to impose any idea on this country. The Congress wants to listen to what the people have to say and act accordingly. That’s why the doors of Congress is open to everyone,” he said.
