Females catered to at Nude
From Cyndi Lauper's 1984 smash hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun to Captain Barkey's Go Go Wine (1996), songs dedicated to female patrons dominated the playlists of selectors rostered at last Sunday's staging of Nude.
Held at Ultra Beach in Portmore, St Catherine, the event attracted a large turnout of patrons, a significant growth compared to the 150 patrons the event drew when previously held as a pool party in Hellshire Heights.
“The turnout was great. The females came out in their numbers and showed off their white outfits while the men tagged along just to see the beautiful ladies and to enjoy the musical selections,” Denise Montague, co-promoter of the series, told the Jamaica Observer.
With a full slate of high-profile selectors, which included Johnny Kool, DJ Calico & Bruck Bad, Bishop Escobar, and Witty Black, patrons were kept busy on the dance floor while showing off some of the latest moves.
“We wanted to cater more to the females this time around. We wanted them to feel more appreciated and for them to let loose and have a great time,” said Montague.
Held twice yearly since 2015, Nude has grown over the years.
“Coming from a pool house in Hellshire with approximately 150 patrons to the event now being held on the beach with almost 1,200 patrons is a huge growth,” the co-promoter said.
The next staging of Nude is scheduled for November in Portmore.
