MG Motor has, today, officially unveiled the Hector SUV, which will be its first offering in India. Last month, the company revealed the iSmart connected car technologies of the Hector. Booking details will be announced in the weeks to come, while the SUV will be launched in June.

MG Hector will compete against the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Tucson. We expect the mid-size SUV to be priced in the bracket of Rs 15 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Hector will be available in five colour schemes - aurora silver, glaze red, starry black, candy white and burgundy red. The mid-size SUV measures 4,655mm in length, 1,760mm in height and 1,835mm in width. It has a ground clearance of 192mm and the largest-in-segment wheelbase of 2,750mm.

MG Motor is offering the Hector in four trims - Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The SUV is loaded with features to the gills. Some of the first-in-segment features include a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, internet connectivity and AL-based online navigation and voice recognition. Additionally, the car also gets LED headlights, heated ORVMs, LED fog lamps, TPMS, app-based remote car operation and a height adjustment tailgate.

The MG Hector is high on safety as well, and the standard kit includes all-wheel disc brakes, ESP, vehicle stability management, TCS and hill-hold control. Higher variants also get six airbags, cruise control system and electronic parking brake. Powertrain options include a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine (141bhp/250Nm) and a Fiat-sourced 2.0L diesel motor (170bhp/350Nm). Both the engines are available with a six-speed manual gearbox. The petrol model additionally gets a six-speed DCT. There's also a 48V mild-hybrid system available on select variants of the petrol manual model, which offers an additional boost of up to 20Nm when required.
