Pulwama encounter: Jawan, civilian and two militants killed in Dalipora area

Dr. Rashid Para, Medical Superintendent District hospital Pulwama, told The Indian Express that one civilian was brought to the hospital and was declared dead by the doctors. “One more civilian injured is also admitted at the hospital,” he said.

Three militants, one soldier and a civilian were killed in a pre-dawn encounter in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. Police sources said that a cordon and search operation (CASO) was underway in Dalipora area of the district, when the militants hiding in the area opened fire, triggering an encounter.

A security officer said that the encounter started at 3.30 am.

While an Army spokesperson in Srinagar has far confirmed that two militants and a soldier were killed in the encounter, police sources said bodies of three militants have been recovered. Police officials said that the identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.

It was not immediately clear how the civilian died in the operation.

The encounter comes days after two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed in a brief between militants and security forces in nearby Shopian district.
