Freeway car fire: Holden burns near Stirling overpass, CFS clear wreckage
It wasn’t the best start to the afternoon for a driver heading to Adelaide when their four-wheel-drive burst into flames.
Country Fire Service units were called to the Adelaide-bound lane of the South Eastern Expressway in Stirling at 1.20pm on Thursday after the Holden Jackaroo caught on fire.
What started as smoke pouring from the engine bay quickly descended into an inferno which gutted the car and sent smoke billowing over the Freeway.
The vehicle has since been cleared.
As emergency services were responding to the incident a police car stumbled upon a second vehicle smoking from the bonnet in the south bound lanes of the tunnel.
That vehicle has also been cleared.
