Under the coaching of Ravi Shastri, the Indian team has become number one in Test Cricket. Men in Blue were enjoying the top spot in ODIs also, however, they shifted to number two position after England dominating performance in ICC CWC 2019, where English team not only won the World Cup, but also defeated India.  A BCCI official said in an interview told NDTV that Ravi Shastri has done everything right for the team and has earned the confidence of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and skipper Virat Kohli. Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will do the selection of Head coach, CAC team is currently helmed by Kapil Dev, with Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy as his colleagues.

Seven vacant posts have been put up in an advertisement which includes batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach and administrative manager. The last date of application is July 30. Due to 45 days extension by BCCI after CWC 2019, Ravi Shastri and his team will continue to train India for the three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests which will be played against West Indies from August 3 to September 3.
