Bakrid celebrated in UP with religious fervour
Lucknow, The festival of Eid-ul-Adha, popularly known as Bakrid, is being celebrated in Uttar Pradesh with traditional enthusiasm and gaiety on Monday. The state government has made elaborate security arrangements this time, due to Eid and the last Monday of the holy month of 'Shravan' falling on the same day. Besides, the abrogation of Article 370 and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, had also spruced up the security at the sensitive areas of the state. State DGP O P Singh himself was monitoring the situation while, several companies of central forces along with the state police were patrolling in the sensitive areas. People thronged different mosques and Eidgahs and greeted each other after offering namaz here. Lakhs of people offered 'namaz' at Nadwa College, Eidgah Aishbagh, Tile Wali Masjid, Asifi Imambara and other major mosques of the Lucknow city. In Lucknow, for the fifth consecutive year, Shia and Sunni offered joint 'namaz' at the Shahnajaf Imambara and it was followed by an all community 'Eid Milan' programme. Reports of peaceful celebration of the festival is being reported from other parts of the state too. Governor Anandiben, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with his ministerial colleagues and BJP leaders, have greeted the people on the occasion. CM is presently in Russia while his deputy Dr Dinesh Sharma went to the Eidgah to wish the people on the occasion. Former UP Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati have also wished the people. Muslim organisations in Uttar Pradesh have urged community members to follow a set of guidelines during Bakrid. UP government has also issued a guideline, asking people not to sacrifice in the open.
