Naidu to tour flood-hit areas today
With the ruling YSR Congress and the opposition Telugu Desam Party leaders engaged in war or words over the floods to Krishna river and the inundation of houses and agriculture fields, former chief minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to tour some of the flood-hit areas in Krishna district today. He is returning to the capital from Hyderabad after a four-day long weekend stay. Chandrababu Naidu’s rented house on the river bed at Undavalli is also flooded with massive inflows to the river in the last one week.
The TDP had lodged a complaint against the government for use of drones over the residence of Chandrababu Naidu and allege some conspiracy against the former chief minister to eliminate him physically. The TDP also saw breach of security by the government and sought action against the concern, while the government justifies the use of drone over the former chief minister’s residence and say that it was to make an assessment of the floods and inundation. DGP Gautham Sawang too had justified the use of drone but found that the officials of the water resources department have not informed the police in advance, which led to commotion initially.
Amid this controversy, Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to tour in Vijayawada and parts of Krishna district up to Avanigadda to assess the damage and console the flood victims. Some parts of Krsihna Lanka in Vijayawada were inundated in the river floods. People of this area have been asking the government for construction of a retaining wall to avoid inundation and the last five years, their cries went unnoticed as the ruling TDP leaders turned deaf ears. Now, the same TDP leaders are making visits to the victims blaming the new government. Chandrababu Naidu too is likely to target the government on the inundation forgetting the fact that he did not construct the required retaining wall along the river in the last five years.
It is to be seen how the TDP would make use of Chandrababu Naidu’s tour and how he is going to fix responsibility on the government for its failure!
