More than 1000 trained under PMKVY RPL in Fish Processing



Having launched on 18th December 2019, more than 1000 beneficiaries have been trained till date at the ongoing series of 12 hours’ (3 days @ 4 hours per day) training programmes on the Job role: Fish & Sea Food Processing Technician under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) - Recognition to Prior Learning (RPL) phase – 1 of the Skill India Mission.

The training programme is being organised at the existing infrastructure of the DM Community College based at Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal by the Unique Trust under the sponsorship of the Food Industry Capacity & Skill Initiatives (FICSI), New Delhi with a targeted goal of training to 2000 beneficiaries within the age group of 18 to 56 years.

Students under the clustering colleges namely D M College of Science, D M College of Arts, D M College of Commerce, G P Women’s College and LMS law College under the Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal are also actively participating at the training programme as an add on course to their undergraduate degree courses.

Self Help Groups, Local Clubs & Organisations in the peripheral areas of Loktak Lake, womenfolk, unemployed educated youths, drop outs and many other people including retired employees are also found actively involved in the training course with an objective to enhance their skills in the fish and sea food processing and hence, economic growth of the state.

The training programme shall continue till 15th February 2020 to cover a targeted goal of 2000 beneficiaries. The training courses are now conducted in two shifts a day i.e. Morning shift starting from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and Evening shift starting from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m. every day with an intake capacity of 50 in each batch.

A stipend @ Rs. 500/- per trainee along with the qualifying certificates issued by FICSI shall be awarded to those who successfully completed the training and qualified in the assessment conducted under FICSI at the end of every three days of training.

High quality T-shirts and Caps are also provided to every trainee. No fee is charged for joining the training.

Those who have passed class VIII, attained the age of 18 years and willing to join the workforce in the Fish and Sea Food Processing sub- sector may come to the Community College any time along with Bank Pass Book for transfer of stipend, Adhaar Card for registration in the Skill India Portal.
