Manoj Tiwari offers to quit after BJP's polls debacle in Delhi
New Delhi/UNI: A day after the result of the Delhi Assembly polls, state BJP president Manoj Tiwari offered to resign holding the responsibility of the poor performance of the party.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has registered a landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly polls, winning 62 of the total 70 seats. While the BJP won only eight seats, and the Congress drew a blank for the second consecutive time.
The Delhi BJP chief who has also met newly-elected MLAs at the party office on Wednesday, said the party will evaluate reasons behind the loss.
'We couldn't perform well. We will evaluate this. Sometimes we get discouraged when results are not as per our expectations but I would like to tell our workers to not be disheartened. Compared to 2015 our winning percentage has increased,' Mr Tiwari said.
"I accept the mandate of people of Delhi and congratulate Arvind Kejriwal. I hope he will perform well as per the expectations of the people," he added.
